City of Jackson plans budget workshop

A budget workshop has been planned for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21 for the Jackson City Council to review the proposed City of Jackson 2020-2021 Budget. Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, the workshop will be held virtually, with officials participating in an online video conference. A live broadcast of the meeting can be viewed on the City’s website and Facebook page.

The workshop will consist of budget presentations from the Interim City Manager and department leaders, along with discussion and review by councilmembers. Potential budget impacts related to COVID-19 revenue losses will also be considered at the meeting. Residents may view the proposed budget on the City website.

Questions about the budget and COVID-19 impacts on City government may be submitted to budget@cityofjackson.org. During the meeting, the Interim City Manager plans on answering appropriate questions from residents. Resident comments on the budget are directed to clerksoffice@cityofjackson.org or the City Hall drop box and will be read at the workshop. Comments must be submitted in writing by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21.

Final budget considerations by the City Council will be made at future meetings in May and June.
