JACKSON, Michigan [April 27, 2020] – Financial support from American 1 Credit Union will help United Way of Jackson County and the Jackson COVID-19 Action Network secure crucial supplies for families impacted by the ongoing pandemic.
“This donation from American 1 comes at a critical time,” said Ken Toll, President & CEO of United Way of Jackson County (UWJC). “Requests for household essentials and other aid have grown dramatically in the past week, and we’ll soon outstrip what’s been raised to help local families. We’re grateful for American 1 stepping up to make a difference.”
American 1 Credit Union donated $3,000 to the COVID-19 Response Fund, which was created by UWJC and the Jackson Community Foundation. The fund is being used to provide food and other essentials to Jackson County households in need, as well as strengthening the local safety net that supports vulnerable families.
“People helping people is the credit union philosophy,” said Martha Fuerstenau, President/CEO of American 1. “Now more than ever is the time to live that out. American 1 is doing our part not only to support our members in the face of this pandemic, but to give back to our community in any way we can.”
Fuerstenau urged businesses and individuals to give what they can to the COVID-19 Response Fund so every Jackson County resident gets the help they need. To make a gift, go to uwjackson.org and click on Donate, or text VIRUS to 91999.
