Jackson Mayor Derek Dobies made it official this morning right here on WKHM:
“We’re excited that we were able to file for re-election today. We filed our nominating petitions this morning and preparing to be on the ballot this August,” Dobies said.
He knows he has a lot to do before August, saying, “We’re excited, we’re excited to get to work. I’m sure it’s going to be a long summer of knocking doors and talking to people. We’ve made a lot of really great progress as a city and there’s some more things that I think we’ve yet to work on and that’s why I’m running for re-election.”
He said that he’s happy that the policies in place are starting to become more and more visible in the neighborhoods. “We’ve overall started breathe some new life into our city. You can see that downtown, and you can start to see that out into the neighborhoods, where we’ve started to raise some of the standards, and cleaned up the city.”
