County Replaces Patrol Cars, Fixes The Damn Roads

The Jackson County Commission elected to continue tho replenish the County Sheriff’s Department’s fleet of patrol vehicles, with 5 new cars expected to be road ready by late spring.

County Commission Chairman Steve Shotwell joined WKHM to talk about the process of introducing new vehicles.  “We’ve got a pretty good cycle going on it, and it’s worked very, very well for the security of Jackson and everyone involved. This year it’s going to take a little time to get all the vehicles organized and get them on the road, because the 800 MHz system is coming online, we’ve got other items, cameras going in the vehicles, and we’ve got to get them all set up.  So instead of rolling them out in April, it’ll be May and June.”

Shotwell also said the county continues to ‘fix the damn roads’. “This next year we’ll be finishing up Spring Arbor, working on the majority of what’s left of Summit Township, and bringing online Blackman Township,” Shotwell said. “When we go into a neighborhood, we also clean up the drains and clean up and enhance the front yard, and make sure everything looks good all the way around.”
