A fire at a Consumers Energy natural gas compressor station in Macomb County has prompted the utility to ask customers to reduce their natural gas usage. The fire has been contained, the cause is under investigation and there were no injuries, but Consumers is asking its largest business customers to cut back on gas usage and asks small businesses and individuals to do the same. The company recommends setting thermostats at 65 degrees when home and 62 degrees when away. Also check your windows and doors to make sure they are shut tight.
