The holidays are over, but the scammers are still rolling along.

An internet scam has surfaced recently involving Exit Realty 1st. Owner Kim Gibbs said that she’s been fielding calls about the issue. “We had several phone calls last week that said, ‘We have one of your properties and it has a sign in the front yard and it was listed on craigslist for rent’,” Gibbs said. “We don’t have properties for rent. The properties with real estate signs are for sale.”

Gibbs explained that the scammers are offering properties for $500 per month. They ask that you complete and application and mail them the funds, and the keys will be mailed to you. Gibbs said that it is an attempt to get money and personal information for unsuspecting victims. Police reports have been filed, but Gibbs said that if the issue is still floating around, possible victims should get a police report as well. She also suggests calling Exit Realty and consult a licensed agent, who will help them find a home that suits their needs; and to never give out personal information or money to people who have a house listed but claim to be out of state and cannot meet you at the property.
