A resident in Chesterfield Township had enough of the late night fireworks, and issued a threat to his neighborhood. “An anonymous neighbor sent out the threat that he or she works from 4am to 2pm and said that there was an obnoxious amount of fireworks last year,” reports Charley Langton “the letter says that he or she will retaliate.” The letter states that if there are any fireworks shot off after 9pm, they will “make life miserable for the days and weeks to come.” It did not say exactly when, or how, the retaliation would occur.
“The law is pretty clear about when you can use fireworks,” says Michigan State Police Lieutenant Michael Shaw. “and that the day before, the day of, and the day after numerous national holidays.” Lt. Shaw suggests being respectful of your neighbors, stay on private property, and make sure your fireworks proprietor is licensed to sell them.
Fireworks and pets are not a good mix either. Pet expert Holly Guild provides some good tips during fireworks events. “If you have a pet that is scared of loud noises or fireworks, leave them in a darkened room in a crate with a TV, fan, or air conditioner running; blinds and curtains closed. We also highly recommend everybody make sure they have current ID on their pets so if they should get scared and get out on accident, that they can be returned to their family as soon as possible.”
