Congressman Tim Walberg and US Representative Bill Huizenga arrived at Bethany Christian Services in Grand Rapids on a fact-finding mission. “Bethany Children Services is one of the premiere agencies dealing with the children in the entire world; but they are also contracted by our Federal Government to house these alien, immigrant children that have been in certain cases separated from their parents due to their parents, or whatever adult brought them across, coming across illegally.” Walberg told WKHM Friday Morning.
Despite all the complimentary things said by Congressman Walberg, when they arrived for their fact-finding mission, he and Rep. Huizenga were summarily denied entry by The Federal Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). This did not sit well with Walberg. Rep. Huizenga said “Unfortunately, Office of Refugee Resettlement, not Bethany, but the Federal Government denied us access. Something we had been told wouldn’t happen.”
Congressman Walberg said “When we have agencies not even willing to work with Congress, that is a big problem.
Walberg and Huizenga join a growing list of lawmakers denied entry by ORR on both sides of the aisle. Huizenga said that he and Walberg intend to call ORR and demand access.
