Seven young women from area high schools have been selected as recipients of the 2018 Amanda J. Mierzwa Memorial Fund Scholarship. The scholarships are awarded annually to one or more female graduates of a Jackson County high school who are going on to major in a STEM discipline at the University of Michigan. The fund was established in 2017 in memory of a beloved woman and brilliant scientist who was raised and educated in Jackson County before heading off to college and launching a successful career in neuroscience.
