Worker Smuggles Marijuana Into Prison

Officials with the Michigan Department of Corrections say a contract worker was arrested for trying to smuggle marijuana into the state prison in Jackson.
The food worker is employed by Aramark Correctional Services and was caught by security staff yesterday (Wednesday). Aramark took over food services in Michigan's state prisons in December after being awarded a 145-million dollar, three-year contract that eliminated 370 state jobs. The move was expected to save the state millions of dollars, but Philadelphia-based Aramark has been fined nearly 100-thousand dollars for several contract violations, including food shortages, frequent menu substitutions, and hiring employees who are overly familiar with prisoners.
