McCoy Arraigned in Shooting of MSU Student

The man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year old Michigan State University student last month faces new charges but not for the murder. Marqua McCoy was arraigned Thursday afternoon in Grand Rapids 61st District Court on one count of tampering with an electronics monitoring device and being a habitual offender. The 19-year old McCoy surrendered to Grand Rapids police after a brief standoff Tuesday evening and was arrested on an outstanding warrant for violating his parole. He served time for assaulting a police officer in 2012. East Lansing police allege McCoy shot 20-year old Dominique Nolff of Middleville and wounded his roommate 20-year old Corbin Holwerda of Grand Haven at their off-campus apartment on January 31. McCoy does not yet face any charges in the homicide. He's being held in Grand Rapids on $100,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for March 3.
