MI to Get Federal Grant

Michigan has received a $51.7 million federal grant to expand early learning opportunities for low-income children that state officials say will give them a greater chance for success in school and life. State Superintendent Mike Flanagan said Michigan has around 182,000 children ages 3 to kindergarten entry from low-income families who will benefit from the federal grant. Michigan earned the grant through the Race to the Top Early Childhood Learning Challenge.
