Consumers Energy is suspending work involving a method of drilling known as "boring" after last week's house explosion in Royal Oak that killed a retired autoworker. Consumers crews were using the technique to replace a gas main when the line to Daniel Malczynski's (mal-ZIN-ski) home was damaged and the house exploded, killing the man. The company says in a press release that employees and contractors will be going through a detailed review of standard operating procedures before resuming projects using the method.
