County Dissolves Road Com. & Approves Raises For 2

Tuesday night after a public hearing the Jackson County Commission voted to absorb the Jackson County Road Commission. County Commission Vice Chairman Phil Duckham told WKHM the decision was in no way a reflection on the road commission.

The Jackson County Road Commission is now a county department. The Jackson County Commission now assumes the duties of the five member road commission. Tuesday night the Jackson County Commission also agreed to raises for Jackson County Sheriff Steve Rand and County Clerk Amanda Riska. Rand received a $500 raise and Riska who is now doing also performing the Register of Deeds duties along with her Clerk duties received a 5.6% raise. The Commission did not approve raises for the Drain Commissioner, County Treasurer and the County Prosecutor. Duckham said it was not an easy vote for him.
