A man who removed a so-called "Smart Meter" from his home is now facing a lawsuit from DTE Energy. Dominic Cusumano (COO-soo-MAHN-oh) and his wife are named in the suit filed in Oakland County Court. The man removed the device after his wife complained of a headache and flu-like symptoms after the device was installed. The meter allows the energy company to monitor electric use. DTE claims the meter is safe and have put over 800-thousand meters in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne Counties. The lawsuit is on hold while the Michigan Public Service Commission finalizes "opt-out" rules concerning the meters.
