MSP Take Wheldon Into Custody



Early Tuesday morning Troopers from the Michigan State Police Jackson and Lansing Posts took fugitive Ricky Wheeldon into custody without incident.  Wheeldon was the passenger in a car driven by a 62 year old Leslie man.  Troopers stopped the vehicle on Churchill Road in Leslie Township.  During the arrest Troopers located a loaded .38 caliber handgun and controlled substances on him.  Wheeldon will be facing those charges on top of what he is facing here in Jackson County.  He was wanted for fleeing on a $500,000 bond, Wheldon skipped town just before he was found guilty on multiple charges in a Jackson County Courtroom.  The investigation leading up to the arrest was a partnership between the U.S. Marshals, The Michigan Department of Corrections Absconder Unit and the Michigan State Police Fugitive Team.  The driver of the vehicle was also arrested and is facing charges of possession of meth and harboring a fugitive, his name is being withheld pending arraignment.  He is currently lodged at the Ingham County Jail.  Wheldon is being held at the Jackson County Jail.
