Sterling Heights Man In Serious Condition Following Tuesday Night Crash.

Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle crash on Hanover Road at Strait Road in Hanover Township late Tuesday night.  A 52 year old Sterling Heights man was traveling North on Strait Road and failed to stop at a stop sign.  His mini-van crossed the intersection and struck a large rock on the North side of Hanover Road.  The van then went through a utility pole, several trees and eventually stopped about 200 feet from the road.  The man was ejected from the vehicle.  Downed power lines prevented rescuers from getting to him quickly.  The man was taken by helicopter to U of M and is listed in serious condition.  Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash and the man was not wearing a seatbelt.  Hanover Township Rescue, Jackson Community Ambulance and Consumers Energy all responded to the crash.
