The investigation continues into a fatal accident from Monday afternoon in Blackman Township.  87 year old LaVerne Sweet was leaving the Ground Round when he lost control of his car and sped across Boardman Road and ran into a tree and a fence.  88 year old Eileen Sweet was taken from the scene to Allegiance.  It was originally reported (not by this news station) that she was treated and released, information now being released states, she died as a result of her injuries at Allegiance.  Mr. Sweet was transferred to U of M and is still listed in critical condition.  The Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the crash.

The Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety is continuing their investigation of a fire at the Jackson Party Store Tuesday morning.  It’s believed to me an electrical fire that started in the basement.  The business suffered extensive smoke damage throughout the building.  The Jackson Fire Department gave assistance to the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety.
