Monday's Candidate Forum

All the candidates for the two State House Seats representing Jackson and the two candidates for the 7th Congressional District took part in a candidate forum Monday at the Cascades Manor House.  Candidates addressed a variety of issues but mostly covered various reasons why constituents should vote for them come November.  Candidates covered their top priorities if elected or re-elected, their biggest strengths that would help them in elected office, bi-partisan disconnect in Lansing and Washington, Personal Property Tax Reform and more.  Acting City Manager Patrick Burtch was among those who attended the forum and he was impressed that all candidates basically shared the same priorities.
Those shared priorities centered around education, business and jobs.  Kathy Schmaltz was the special guest emcee, she said it’s important to have forums like this to be a part of the process.
The event was part of the Economic Club Luncheon Series through the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce.
