JDL Gets Major Grant
The Jackson District Library announced they have received a grant for $99,187 from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Investor Education Foundation and the American Library Association. JDL is one of 16 libraries nationwide to receive this grant. It’s part of the Smart investing@your library grant. JDL will be working with the United Way of Jackson County, Community Action Agency, Marriage Matters Jackson and Central Michigan 2-1-1 to make financial literacy resources, programs and information available to families and households in Jackson County. The grant project, titled Let’s Talk About Money, will build and expand upon financial literacy and financial information programs currently being delivered throughout the county. Initially the grant will target members of financially fragile households and couples with combined incomes. The project partners plan to offer classes and workshops, delivered by experts drawn from local educational institution, at locations in Jackson County over the next two years.
