A prisoner at the Charles Egeler Reception and Guidance Center in Jackson died Monday after jumping from the fourth floor of the cell block. The Michigan Department of Corrections says the death of 42-year-old Kevin Douglas Curl of Jackson, preliminarily, is being called a suicide. The two sentences were to be served consecutively. Curl had been found guilty on October 29 to assault and concealed weapon charges stemming from a June 14 incident in which he broke into his former wife's Summit Township home. Curl was sentenced by Judge John McBain on Dec. 11th Curl did not have past felony convictions in Jackson County. The suicide remains under investigation by the Dept. of Corrections.
