The 20-year old man convicted of killing a Michigan State Police Trooper in West Michigan last year has attempted suicide. Michigan Department of Corrections spokesman Russ Marlan confirmed Knysz, who was at the Michigan Department of Corrections Charles Egeler Reception and Guidance Center in Jackson, tried to hang himself with a bed sheet Monday afternoon. According to a family source Knyz is considered brain dead and is being tested to see if his organs can be donated. Knysz was sentenced on April 8th to life in prison without possibility of parole for first-degree murder of a peace officer He shot 43-year old Trooper Paul Butterfield in the head during a traffic stop
in September near Ludington.
