Consumers Energy Workers Terminated Due to House Explosion that Killed Man

Consumers Energy, Friday, announced the firing of some of its employees due to the explosion that killed a 58 year-old man in Detroit.

The number of employees terminated was not disclosed.

Consumers crews were replacing a gas main when the line to Daniel Malczynski's home was damaged and the house exploded, killing the man.

The utility says that the workers were fired for failing to follow proper procedures.
Consumers has suspended work involving a method of drilling known as "boring", which was deployed in this project.
