With the start of the girls basketball season this week, Michigan Center Schools announced today they will honor the memory of the late coach Scott Furman by renaming the school’s seasoning opening tournament after their beloved coach who died suddenly earlier this year. “The Scott Furman Tip-Off Classic” will be held November 26th through the 28th at Michigan Center. Scott’s longtime assistant Joe Lusk is taking over as girls varsity coach.
Ralph Branham will be the assistant and the JV coach is Rick Davis. Furman had an amazing success at Michigan Center for over a decade. We suggested to Superintendent Scott Koziol it must feel strange for everyone at the school to start the season without Scott Furman.
