One ice fisherman died and another is hospitalized after they fell through the ice of a small lake in southeast Michigan. According to the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department, 52-year old Michael Shofstell of Saline was pronounced dead at Allegiance Health System in Jackson after the incident Thursday afternoon on Timber Lake in Cambridge Township in the northern part of the county, just south of the Jackson County line. 52-year old Gerald Smith of Grass Lake is in guarded condition at a hospital in Toledo, Ohio. Deputies say the Lenawee County Dive Team located Shofstell in about 18 feet of water. The men were fishing on the south side of the lake about 100 yards from shore on ice that was two to three inches deep.
